Botany

Plants, flowers, trees even grass. It’s fascinating how these creatures are living entities just like us, but yet so different. Growing up I was taught that plants were living, but did not had any sense of being. But that thought seems to change.

We now know they can send messages through there root systems warning neighboring plants of certain dangers. When other plants read these chemicals as messages they can produce chemicals that protect them from certain pests for instance.

Of course we have known for a long time that also light is something very valuable for them. They know how to make glucose from photons. Some ability we lack. They also adjust their growing rate by the amount of light they get. Less light makes them slow down. Trees drop their leaves and some other plants may stop investing in everything above the soil, or die all together, but not before they have given their offspring the best chance by spreading their seeds as good as possible.

Then spring comes around and everything starts blossoming. I just can’t help myself. I have to draw all these beautiful flowers. I don’t feel the need to do that in a true to nature kind of way, but more in a Rosalie kind of way. Sometimes that means using a lot of colour and other times I just use some black ink.
